Meet the SBA Continuing Legal Education Committee Chairs for 2025.
Judge Craig Marcotte is a native of Shreveport. He attended Jesuit High School and obtained his undergraduate degree from Louisiana Tech University. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Paul M. Hebert School of Law at Louisiana State University. Judge Marcotte practiced law in Lafayette, Natchitoches, and then with the Shreveport firm of Hubley, Marcotte, Rhodes, and Hussy before taking the bench. Judge Marcotte served in civil and criminal sections at the First Judicial District Court from 2009-2022. Judge Marcotte was elected to the Second Circuit Court of Appeal in March 2022.
Judge Jeff Cox is an appellate judge at the Second Circuit Court of Appeal. From November 2004 until December 31, 2016, he served as a district Court judge at the 26th Judicial District Court for Bossier and Webster parishes. Judge Cox is also an instructor for the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy, which provides services to law enforcement officers.
Judge Edwin Henry Byrd III was a founding partner of Pettiette, Armand, Dunkelman, Woodley & Cromwell. His law practice involved general civil litigation defense in state and federal courts involving civil rights, employment, and insurance defense. He has been a district judge at the First Judicial District Court since August 2022.
D. Lee Harville is an attorney for the Louisiana Appellate Project and the CINC Appellate Project. He is an Appellate Practice Specialist, certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization. Lee also served as a staff attorney for the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, reviewing numerous federal appeals. He has presented hundreds of cases in Kings County (Brooklyn, New York) Family Court, has argued in and won a moot court case presided over by a Justice of the United States Supreme Court, and has represented clients in civil and criminal jury and bench trials.
