Upcoming Events:
Some of our annual events & projects include:
Networking Socials
YLS hosts bimonthly socials at local eateries that are sponsored by local businesses and law firms. These events provide YLS members the opportunity to make business and social connections with other attorneys in the Shreveport-Bossier area, as well as share ideas, activities, and interests with YLS.
Teen Court
Teen Court is a diversion program for first time juvenile offenders sponsored by Volunteers for Youth Justice. Members of the Young Lawyer’s Section volunteer to act as judges and attorney coaches to assist students participating in Teen Court. Members also help to judge an annual Law Week essay contest that is open to all high school students.
Seminar for New Attorneys
The Young Lawyer’s coordinate an annual seminar for newly admitted attorneys, which includes presentations by local Judges, attorneys, and other court personnel to provide practical advice on practicing law. The seminar is followed by a luncheon, formal introduction to the Court, and a party that evening. It is held in conjunction with the Shreveport Bar Association’s Annual Memorial & Recognition Ceremony.
